Karma's Village

Someone once said that it takes a Village to raise a child. this quote I know to be true. For growing up my children had in essence a village that included my two sisters, our parents, my husband and I along with a total of 8 kids. The kids often thought more of each other as siblings instead of as cousins.

It did not matter which one of us villager when to pick up the children from school the teachers always knew to send out All the kids that lived in our little village. i did the feeding of the children, my sister Kelly did the cleaning and bathing of the children and our sister Carolyn helped the kids with homework.

We all worked as a team in the raising of the children when one of us needed a break we knew that we could count on the other to pick up the slack in our busy kid filled life. it was not always peaceful nor did we always get along. But at the end of the day we always came together to sit at the dinner table and share with each other how our day went. This is something that we still do today.

The story around the table did not have to be a long one it could be something as simple as telling what you ate for  lunch at school that day or something akin to a tall tell but either way it was about sharing with those who would help you see the lighter side of a bad day, or just to know that someone had your back when you needed it the most.

Our village has changed a lot since our kids were small some for my oldest has left the nest to venture out on her own. But hubs and I have 2 special little girls who have joined our little village.

As my sister Kelly has become a Grandmom (p.s. she will kill me when she see that I am referring to her as such.) for the first time I can't help but think of the baboo as belonging to the whole village for this baby girl will never have to worry about needing anything in life since she will be coming home to a very big village of people who will always have her back in life no matter what.
